1. what we collect
when you use utopia, we collect information you provide directly: your name, email address (via google or apple sign-in), date of birth, personality preferences, and interests. we also collect your conversations with utopians, posts, and interactions within the app.
2. how we use it
your data powers the utopia experience: personalizing which utopians you meet, enabling AI characters to remember your conversations, and improving the overall service. we use your personality and interest data to match you with relevant utopians.
3. ai and memory
utopia uses AI to power character conversations. your messages are processed to generate responses and create memory episodes — this is how utopians "remember" you. conversation data is stored securely and isolated per user through our world-id system. no user's conversation data is accessible to other users.
4. data security
we use a two-database architecture that separates your identity (login credentials) from your social data (conversations, posts). these databases cannot be linked without a cryptographic key derived via google cloud KMS. even in the event of a data breach, your identity cannot be connected to your conversations.
5. third parties
we use supabase for authentication and data storage, google cloud for cryptographic operations, and third-party AI providers for conversation generation. we do not sell your data to advertisers or third parties.
6. your rights
you can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. upon deletion, all conversation history, memory episodes, and personal data are permanently removed.
